It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last. The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, “Surely this was a righteous man.”

I work in full time ministry, and two times a year their is a great level of anticipation and excitement for two holidays; Christmas & Easter. They are easily watered-down with the idea that these are the only two times a year that many people go to church, but their significance can't be overlooked. More than creating the perfect Easter basket, finding the perfect dress for Sunday, or taking a million photos - This weekend of remembrance, honour, and reflection is for you and me. Christians are called to be selfless and serve our brothers and sisters in Christ relentlessly and with the love of the Father. However, in these moments of "busy-ness" I hope this weekend we don't become consumed with everyone else and forget the promise that He died for you and for me.
I am the resurrection, and I am life eternal. anyone who clings to me in faith, even though he dies, will live forever. And the one who lives by believing in me will never die. do you believe this?
John 11:25 TPT
We have heard that so many times in church but sometimes it takes hearing it for the millionth time for it to sink in. Instead of your day being wrapped around your plans and schedule this Sunday, how powerful would it be if we actually came into church expecting to be changed forever? Expecting to be re-set, re-awakened, with a new and deeper hunger & thirst for God? Our longing should always be for the lost and the hurting, the broken and the hungry. Be encouraged that He wants you to experience him in new ways, even when you're leading others He wants to show you more.
I wasn't planning on doing this blog post tonight and I have no idea if it will relate or connect to anyone - but if anything, I needed it. As I write I am thinking about all the friends and family I have who have been going non-stop this week preparing a place for people to come to this weekend. My heart is full and my mind is blown at the sacrifice of the body of Christ. I'm praying for every soul, every person who comes into church with a limited expectation of what they are about to experience - and I pray that God meets many people at the altar.
I have absolutely no desire to use my gifts, talents, and passions unless I can acknowledge and give all credit to the one who gave them to me. With every painting, sketch, or creative idea, I long for closeness with my creator.
